Building community one note at a time…the GNHCC tag line. It reminds us of our commitment to our community, sharing our love of music with others – such an important part of who we are. We also need to build our immediate chorus community. One way to do this is by making a commitment to assist one of the many GNHCC committees. Taking an active role in committee activities not only helps the chorus run more efficiently but also provides an opportunity to get to know members you might not yet have had a chance to meet. Speak with a Board member…find out how you can help – and have fun at the same time!
Thank you for your donations to the food pantry! The wheelbarrow was overflowing with non-perishable items and was very gratifying to see. Contributing to the pantry is an on-going project as it is always in need of donations.
New Haven Reads 4th Annual Spelling Bee – Friday, October 23 – 7:00 – 9:00 pm -- Yale School of Management, 165 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511
Come and support the B(ee) Sharps -- the GNHCC entry in this event! Team members Carla Weil, Danny Stone, and Kathy McManus are busily (buzzily?) studying spelling lists in preparation for the Bee. It is a fun evening…the costumes alone are worth attending! Following is some information on parking and Bee events throughout the evening.
There is free parking across the street from the School of Management in the Peabody Museum parking lot. From 6 to 7 pm, the lot will be staffed by New Haven Reads volunteers who will direct walking traffic to the School of Management.
From the Peabody website: Parking is available in the Yale Peabody Museum Visitors Parking Lot located at the far south end of Yale Lot 22 (please note the signs inside the lot.) The entrance is located on Whitney Avenue, one block north of the Museum at the intersection for Humphrey Street. At that light turn into the large Yale University parking lot. Drive to the very end of the entrance drive and make a left at the stop sign. Continue down to the end of the drive to the second set of gates on the left.
There is also parking in the garage at 221 Whitney Avenue.
Please note that street parking is available but is metered parking until 9:00 pm.
Folks with limited mobility can be dropped off in front of the School of Management in the roundabout. There is no long-term parking allowed in the roundabout.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Spelling Bee! The audience plays a huge role in making the evening magical. We would love to have a big GNHCC cheering squad for the B#s! Invite friends, relatives, neighbors, coworkers. Admission is free with a suggested $5 donation. We’d love to see you there cheering us on!
GNHCC Trailer gets a new look!
As many of you know, the GNHCC concert risers rest quite comfortably in our new trailer. Well, on Sunday, the plain white trailer got a new look when the GNHCC logo to was added to its sides. Thanks to GNHCC Chamber Choir members for getting the job done!! Additional thanks to Ted Smith for driving the trailer to New Haven – and for the trailer’s good care.
Just a reminder for now – the All-Chorus Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 8:30-4:00 pm, and will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Meriden. More details, directions, pot luck assignments, etc., will be forthcoming over the next 2 weeks.
